 | Hello folks,
I am a recent graduate from a Canadian university with an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering. I have been looking for work for about 6 months now. Haven't got any luck on that, so I decided to expand my search from environmental engineers/scientists to environmental technicians and field technicians. I noticed that some companies said having H2S Alive and First Aid tickets would be considered as an asset. I just got the H2S Alive today, and now I am looking into the First Aid certification. However, there are so many different kinds of First Aid certificates available. The job postings just say "First Aid" without specifying which one. Can anyone please give me an idea about what kind of First Aid courses employers in Alberta expect their applicants to have? Is it the Standard First Aid or the Emergency First Aid? CPR level A or level C? Also, am I really increasing my chances of getting hired by doing that or am I just wasting my money, which I don't have much left?
Thank you in advance!!

 | I'm currently doing the HSC in high school and I'm interested in becoming an Electronics Engineering Technician. I'm interested in the amount of mathematics they have to do in their jobs; I imagine the qualified Engineers would do that?
The subjects I do are:
General Maths
Standard English
Business Studies
Earth & Environmental Science
Biology
I also hear it's possible to become a qualified Electronics Engineer at one stage in your career path if you become an Electronics Engineering Technician.

 | Okay, so - my main goal is to do something to help the world/people/animals (like many people!) I considered becoming a doctor, but I am not sure that's for me. (Making decisions is not my strong point!) So, I have considered an environmental sciences major. Would this be practical? Would environmental engineering be better? ANY suggestions? I am interested in stuff like the Peace Corps.
The only problem with engineering is I don't really care how things work... I want to go out and make a difference.

 | Hello folks,
I have an interview tomorrow with an engineering firm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The title of the position I will be interviewing for is technical assistant/ field technician. Honestly, I really don't care how much they pay me. What I am really hoping to get from working for them is the experience. I want to learn and become a more competent environmental specialist in the future. Money is at the bottom of my list. However, I know I will likely be asked to give them a salary range. This is one of the toughest question for me. If I say 35000 to 45000, would that be a good range for a technical assistant/ field technician in Edmonton, Alberta?
Thank you in advance!!

 | So I'm only a freshman at the moment but I like to think about the future and I want to know what a decent or high paying job is that involves working with computers and math (algebra, geo, trig, calc etc) I'm not really concerned about the pay. I love using computers and figuring out how they work and at the time I am loving advanced algebra 2.

 | Obviously most serious research jobs are out without more education, but I'd like more options. Teaching (elementary or high school) is the only one I could think of. Thanks.

 | I majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Global Environmental Change?
Would the likes of the NRDC (or maybe a slightly less ambitious organization) be interested in hiring me - if I also had good internship/work experience?
Thanks.

 | I am currently completing a diploma in Environmental Protection Technology. I wasn't planning on completing a degree, but I am not finding any job postings in the environmental industry that ask for anything less than a degree.
Can anyone tell me if there are any jobs that only require the diploma?
Thank you!
