I know they have specific degrees and certifications for it. What if you have a four year degree in general biology, with no certification or work experience in a lab? Will some places train on the job? Is there a quick way to be a certified lab technician?

I've heard some people saying that they are lab technician ( they prepare slides...something to do with lymphocytes but I am not sure what) and that they got trained on the job and had no experience nor a degree. I am taking bio, chem, math, etc college classes and planning to take biotechnology next fall. Meanwhile, how do I get trained by the hospitals as a lab tech? What do I do? Thanks for your time. Lucy

I am wanting to get a job as a certified medical lab technician. I have a BS in chemistry and was wondering if anyone who is a lab technician (or in the know), could tell me where to go from here? How do I get certification in a particular state? What is actually involved in becoming certified, i.e. is it just taking and passing a test? 1 day ago - 3 days left to answer.

Hi, so im 13 and I'm currently doing career planning in school, obviously a subject where you decide what job you would like and you plan it out. I decided I liked to do something with science and I came up I wanted to do either zoology or be a lab technician. However, I am unsure how much the training cost for both of these careers are, as they both require some sort of training, so could you please give me an idea of roughly how much each would cost? thank you!

I'm applying for a position as a lab technician at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island. They ask to indicate salary requirements on the cover letter, but I have absolutely no idea what to ask for. It's a difficult question to ask people who are not from Long Island, since the standard of living is so high here, so please indicate your location if you choose to answer. Note: This is only to assist me in my search to find what salary I should ask for, it will not be my only source.
