Criminalist Job Questions & Answers

I am currently doing Year 10 and am focusing on becoming a language expert, journalist or a Criminalist. I intend to widen my options though and might also consider Forensics or Criminalist. As I do not take a liking towards Physics, is it possible for me to drop the subject and still pursue this option? And I meant Criminalist as a third option.

Well, I'm not in college yet, but I'm taking a college course called Criminal Justice & Juvenile Studies, but I was wondering what benefits would I get out of working in this field and what good paying jobs are in this field. I'm asking this because I'm trying to figure if I should pursue this or Business.

I am going to go through the police academy in February. As of now, my goal is to become an officer with plans of eventually being promoted. I plan on becoming a patrol officer, but what other types of positions are available when I have some seniority and a possible promotion. I wanted to know what type of positions are available to someone who has a bachelors degree (Psychology) and has been an officer for a few years (positions like detective, lieutenant, maybe criminalist?) Thanks.

I am interested in working as a Morgue Assistant. I currently am a CNA, but I don't know how to go about finding a job in this field. I have searched around a little and haven't found anything. I have worked in multiple nursing homes and am looking into getting my Forensic Nursing degree and I think working in a morgue would give me more experience.

For example, would it be better to work for a large government lab or a simple police station? Which state offers the best salaries for this job?

I will be straight forward, I know it is nothing like they show on TV how it is all glamorous and stuff, but the job still does have to get done. So I was just curious as to how you become one. What are the majors? Obviously it's criminal justice, but is there any else like biology or psychology or something? And also do you have to be a policeman first or can you just graduate school then join a squad somewhere without working for a police station for a couple years. Thanks

Im a senior in high school and its almost time to start applying to colleges. I've been wanting to major in Forensic Science for a long time because i want to become a crime scene investigator/criminalist. I was planning on going to John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC. The only bad thing about this is I dont want to have to become a police officer first. Im not even sure if i have to become a police officer first, ive just heard that. If thats the case I don't want to major in that. My second option was to major in Business management or something in that area. I really want to do something in forensics/crime scene investigation, but i just dont want to have to become a cop. Can someone help and tell me if there are any fields or anything in forensic science/csi that i can work in without becoming a cop first?????!!!! Thanks!

I would like to analyze in both the crime scene and crime lab ,is that possible in another of those jobs above ? how is the pay like ? i checked from some sites and it says a criminalist earns about 5k-7k but if my country has low crime rate, do i earn less ?

I'm writing a mystery novel about an assassination. Anyway, the nurse finds out who the assassin is by picking up a DNA sample that leads to him. So, what type of nurse, I guess, would be in this kind of field? Or are there things I should make sure I mention about the nurse's job? Work hours? Boss? Things she does regularly on the job? Help please. :D

I really enjoy Science, and I would love to have a job that could put my love for it to use, I've always liked the idea of becoming a Criminalist - but i'm not sure. What kinds of jobs are there in the UK that would be able to combine my love for Science and the need for money? Also, seeing as I am a year away from taking my GCSE's, what grades would I need to do such jobs? Thanks! :)
