I have poor credit, I have a foreclosure, a voluntary repo, some medical bills and some utility bills on my credit. I know if I join I will not have security clearance for some jobs. Are there any good jobs in the Army that don't require a security clearance? What do you have to score on the ASVAB to be a Medic?

I don't know much about getting security clearances. All the jobs that I have been applying for requires a me to getting a security clearance. However, I have a Chinese girlfriend overseas that I intend to marry if I can get a job. She has no American green card, however she lives in Japan. Will this disqualify me from getting the security clearance and hence disqualify me from getting the job? And is there a way to get around this problems?

I am thinking about being a corpsman in the Navy, I really want to be a AIRR but I think I need security clearance to get that job. They wanted me to be a Nuclear Engineer last time I went in but I cant do that because it requires a security clearance as well. I want to do something important that isn't grunt work(nothing is grunt work in the military obviously, but some jobs aren't very challenging). Any suggestions? Previous use of Marijuana, and I had a felony but it was expunged. They say I can join, I just can't have a job that requires security clearance. Anything above "Secret" I cant get.

I need to obtain a security clearance for a new job. I don't have a criminal background, but bad credit, due to my business falling apart. I need to file bankruptcy. Am I better of filling bankruptcy prior to applying for a security clearance or afterwards? I know both things are bad for getting a security clearance, but which one is worse?

That do not require a security clearance or TS security clearance. A job like a linguist where your salary increases with your skill set. Yes. I know linguists require a clearance, but are there any other positions with a similar system when it comes to increasing pay and skill sets.

I really want to apply as a civilian where my best friend works. He is an IT contractor for the Army, he said I would have to apply, and get a security clearance. I have just come out of college. He does not tell me much about his job. I don't know why that is but it seems like it would be a good job to sit at a desk all day looking at a computer screen, Any tips.

Can you still get a government job in California for with a misdeameanor? Make long story short about 8 years ago I had an first offense one time incident. I would like to know does anyone know if this would hinder me from getting a security clearance job? I read that in California, background checks go only as far back as 7 years. Does this hold true for government or state jobs? What if they do fingerprints will it still show up? I'm a disabled veteran, and I have my BS degree and working on my masters, does that help?Appreciate all sensible answers!

I am currently working full time in the career field I want to persue (IT). I work in the DC area and want a security clearance (more pay, and easier to get a job). I have also wanted to join the military since I was young, but never ended up going. I figured I'd join a reserve branch, that has something to do with my career goal (Network Security). What branch has these in mind? Security Clearance, Network Security and Reservist. Thanks. I'd like to clarify (as I already did in the original body), that I also have wanted to join the military on desire alone. Not just for the clearance.

I smoked maybe 5 times in my first semester of college due to a little peer pressure I suppose, but I have no intentions of smoking again. Could I still acquire a top secret security clearance for a military job? I know I'll just be honest about it and hope that all works out well.
