State Trooper Job Questions & Answers

I am currently in school at the University of Tennessee studying criminal justice. I am in my 4th year. When I graduate, I plan to apply for a Tennessee State Trooper job. Is it hard to get a job as a TN State Trooper? Also, after working with the THP for a few years, I planned to apply for a job with the TBI as a criminal investigator. Is that a tough job to get?

I am 17 and i plan on being a state trooper. In Illinois if you go to 2-3 years (cant remember exact amount) of army active duty you only have to get your associates. I have always wanted to serve my country so i thought this would be perfect. Now what should i be in the army to help me get that state trooper job?

I really am looking into law enforcement and I am Stuck between choosing my Career as a marshal or state trooper. I want the Job that has the most action whenever they're "called" to work. Which Job would it be easier to make a living on money wise? Why? And who would be doing more "intense" work like breaking into places or dealing with more "interesting"(as in how they act) criminals?

Does it really mean anything, because I have people telling me that military experience doesn't mean anything at all and I will be in the same situation as the same person that has a degree trying to get a trooper job also. Is that true or false? And thank you. And also if I do become a Trooper, I still want to be able to serve my country as well. Should I join the reserves or the guard?

I know that city cops only have jurisdiction in their city, and I know state troopers can go anywhere in the state. What I want to know is what is the difference between the jobs themselves? I know state troopers do traffic work, but do they get to do regular police work as well? I'm contemplating between becoming a state trooper or a city cop but I just need to know more about both positions. Thank you for answering my questions.

Rather than protect the job of someone who drinks on the job, and tasers his nephew, wouldn't you expect a responsible government elected official to try to have that state trooper removed from the government payroll?

I live in New York City. 18 years old. Since I am very very familiar with all the driving laws, is it possible for me to become a state trooper as a part time job when I'm not in college? Or as a full time job? What's the starting annual salary? What are the requirements and where can I apply? I have no criminal record or any negative records. Thanks

Dont say law enforcement because that is untrue. I want to be an Illinois state trooper. That is my dream job and i think itd be awesome. Ive asked a question on here and the guy said dont take law enforcement, it would be useless because you learn all tha stuff at the academy. So what do i take then? Im going to community college first then a university so yeah. Some answers say take socialoly, english, comouters. So what?

My husband is applying to go to the State Trooper Academy in Austin, TX. I was just wondering, what is the difference in a Texas Ranger and a State Trooper and can you be both at once. Also, if anyone has any advice for me as a police-wife-to-be, I'd love to know the GOOD and POSITIVE side. I already know the yucky part and don't want to focus on it.

I was thinking about becoming a state trooper and was wondering what exactly i would have to do in order to follow through with it. Are there any college courses that I need to complete first? What are the physical requirments? Are there physical things that could keep you from becoming one? (sort of like the flat footed thing that keeps ou out of the army) thnx

I want to become a state trooper or police officer, something on those lines, and my question is can i do that with a degree in criminology instead of criminal justice? The college I really want to attend only has criminology and I need to know if I can still become a trooper with a criminology degree.
