I only have two years of college but would like to get an IT-security job with the government. How should I go about doing it? Is there any entry level jobs requiring no previous experience that would get my foot in the door to higher paying jobs? Is there any government programs that would help pay for the additional educational requirements for the job?

I have 6 years experience. I know I need a guard card or whatever, but are there jobs available in security? I know the economy is bad, but security jobs seem to always need people. What do you think? Also, do you know what the minimum wage in SF is?

I am getting ready to go back to school and would like to get into the information security field. I would like to prepare myself for taking certification exams like Security+ Network+ and later advanced certifications like CISSP an C|EH. Both of those require a minimum of X years work experience in the field, so my question is "What is an example of an entry-level information security job." and also "What degree program would most prepare me to achieve my goal?" Would it be more beneficialcial to attend a university or a specialized tech school?

I will be joining the army soon as an infantryman for a few years but when i retire i was thinking of being a security guard. Not the kind of security guard that stands around at a k-mart all day armed with pepper spray, im talking about the kind that i will be armed with like a machine gun that will shoot anyone who shouldn't be in the area, its not because i wanna kill someone but because i want a special security job where i have to be alert and on my feet, ready for anything. That's if there is any jobs like that.

Can i get a Homeland Security job with a degree in Technical Management and a concentration in some Criminal Justice Classes? Hopefully i can get some input from some people with experience in this field. I would greatly appreciate the help.

I went to a trade school for Criminal Justice and i do not wish to follow up with becoming a peace officer. I would like to get into the security part of it. For all the armed security jobs you need some type of security license and i know there are many different types of guard licenses. I was just wondering where i needed to go to get any of the licenses i need. Thanks for any help.
