Audio and Video Equipment Technician Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
I really enjoy working around home entertainment electronics. However my knowledge is random, tit-bits, basically hear-say type. Where can I get formal training in home audio-video? I would "love" to be able to take up a part time job as a home theatre installer or a sales-person or a support technician in a specialized audio-video store. (Actually I can not imagine any fancy more exciting than being in the middle of high-end AV equipment and getting paid for it!) Where can I start?

Writing is one of my greatest passions. I love words, literature, and learning, and I think becoming an editor might be a possible career option. What exactly does the job require and consist of? And what degree would be most beneficial toward this career? And are there any additional tips from current editors at the moment? I was considering English, but I'm not quite sure.

Hi, I'm in high school and I took a business class, and I made audio recordings, and my teacher said I was very good at it and offered an audio program. I think I would really enjoy that! I had a lot of fun recording, but I don't know what job fields I could get into after college/university. So I was wondering what some good paying and or fun jobs in that field is. Thanks ^_^

I am currently thinking of becoming an audio visual systems design engineer. Does anyone know what you have to do to become one in Canada? Also, if you could direct me to various websites that give more information about the profession that would be great as well. Lastly, if my exact title of the job "audio visual systems design engineer" is incorrect. This is what I would like to do I would like to design, build, test and if i could also install audio visual equipment such as projectors, tvs, sound systems in short as much as i can involving theatre systems. I hope this makes it clear. Thank you for help. Is electronics engineering basically the same thing as electrical engineering? Can you do what I described with a degree in electrical engineering?
