I've tried researching a lot of places on the internet and the only place I've found that teaches TV/Film camera operators are in England. Does anyone know where in the US that they may have a school for camera operator? The kind of work I'm talking about is a camera man for a TV show or Film. Is this something you have to go to film school for or is there a place that just teaches how to be a camera operator? Thanks for your answers!!!

I really want to work in the media industry, it is my dream. My dream job is either an editor (for trailers would be nice) or a camera operator, working in the BBC is something I'd like to do - or better yet, TV studio's in LA! What is the average wage for someone with these jobs? Even if it's low, I'll still do it. But I want to know because I'd like to visit America a lot when I'm older and I'd wanna know if I can or not.

Im going for my bachelors at U of M in communications. But there are 5 different communication degrees they offer. They are electronic media, technical and professional, journalism, public communication and culture, and speech. I am going to major in two of them and journalism is not one. Im leaning more towards electronic and public communication. I would like a career in either public relations, advertising, news anchor, camera operator, etc. So which 2 should i take? Also, which communications jobs have their own office or desk? One of those jobs i would like too. Thanks

If Santorum gets his way many jobs would be lost. Not just actors but support people as well such as camera operators Companies which supply the industry would be hard hit, everyone from manufactuers of Lubricants to stock hoders in Viagra. Would Republicans like seeing all those unemployed porn actresses in the grocery using Food Stamps? And what if Jena Haze and Friends show up with signs saying Will Work For Food? Yukkkk.

So, I'm taking classes for film tech. On our next class shoot and hopefully in the future I'd like to be a camera operator. So my question is what are the basics I need to know, gear I should have, skills, any tips or tricks. I know a bit about photography, cinematography and basic camera operation but not extensively.
