I am finding it much harder and time consuming to find work in my field of career (Millwright trade apprentice, 2nd year out of 4 years needed to become Journeymen) I left the workforce 3 months ago for family problems Iam looking at returning now soon. What kind of work should I take while looking for my ideal work in my career choice? Can I take any type of work for now just so I am working? (say delivering water jugs, labour work, etc.) until I find a millwright job and how do I explain without telling a possible employer that this is really temp. work unless I really enjoyed it until I find a millwright job to suit my skill level? Thanks Thankyou J.S. that issome really good advice/opinion on this, I will try looking for work related to my mechanil ability and go from there, and make sure to investigate anout the place. Thankyou again it is greatly appreciated

I am 37 and want to change jobs, because i dont like what i am doing now. about 5 or 6 years ago i use to do millwright type work. ''welding'' and stuff like that. i like that kind of work but the projects that were thrown at me were hard and allways a challenge because i had no formal training, it was just figure it out and do it, these young guys are lucky to get training. do you think my age will play a factor in geting into a apprenticeship ? how can i convince a journey man that i would be a better than averge helper/ apprentice. i all ready have many skills as far as welding, rigging, useing tools, i am sure i have more skills than the averge millwright apprentice,i just need the formal training,if you were a millwright would you want to work with a apprentice that had some skills are just brand new and only school exp. any tips on getting a union millwright job would be great to here about, but only union, if its not union they treat you like crap around here. pro union.

Bases on anyone that can offer any advice, or an actual journeymen or apprentice of either trade, what trade would you choose or finish first? I am a second year apprentice machinist with alot of hours experience, but I am also a 1st year millwright currently, I enjoy both but need to decide. Should I just find a machinist job, finish the trade and then challange the millwright exams? I am 19 year old male by the way. And I am closer to finishing the machinist

Hey are there any jobs or career paths that you can recommend that offer you a great chance to "move up the ladder" after getting an entry level position? I've heard so many stories about people getting 4 year degrees and then they cant even find a job in their field, so I'm talking about an entry level job at a place where maybe once you've been there awhile maybe they would send somewhere to get trained for an even higher position within the company or something? If you cant help me on that, what are some good trades, 2 year, "certification programs" , apprenticeships that can get me a good job?

I come from what you could say a slightly upper middle class family. my parents dont make LOADS of money but enough to support me and my brother and to provide us with material things/vacations/trips. I've been in college now for a year and i really do hate it. I want to be successful-and am okay with not making as much as them-but i also do not want to be "poor" or a failure. i'm afraid that by not going to college everyone will look down on me and think i'm "Stupid" a "failure" "unsuccessful" or a "loser". I usually don't care about what people think of me-but i really can't stand being thought of like that. Is it possible that i can be successful and comfertable without going to college? I go to a private art college which is about 40,000 a year. I feel like i am p*****g money away if A. im not enjoying it and B. if i'm not doing well and C. if my passion for art/college is not even there. please help and be honest. Everyday is depressing because i dont know what i want to do with my life!
