Journeyman Plumber Job Questions & Answers

I am not a professional... just retail work experience. My husband has been a journeyman plumber for over 20 years. We are interested in moving to Australia for at least a couple of years. Any information on whether that would be possible or not? How long might it take to go through the process of obtaining visas? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My husband has been really interested in doing this lately. He said he has heard it takes about 4 yrs as an apprentice, and then you get a Journeyman's license, and then a few more years to be a Master. I encouraged him to do it and he says he thinks he is too old, and that people usually start apprenticing out of highschool. Is this true, and do you think 34 is too old to start out? Thanks!

I am considering beginning an onlilne plumbing course which will result in me holding a city & guilds NVQ level 2 in plumbing. I just want to make sure it will be a valuble qualification? I dont want to spend money and then find that this qualification isnt enough to make me a qualified plumber and was a waste of time and money. Does anyone know anything about this qualification or about what qualifications are required to become a plumber? Thanks

I have a chance to work for a company as a truck driver and one of the bonuses they offer is a journeyman cert after you complete their apprenticeship training program. It claims it is nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor. What does this cert do for me and what is it?

I would like to be a plumber and was told I would need to complete an apprenticeship. How do I find one? I always thought they preferred young guys (not 33 year old women) in apprenticeships. I have called my local job service but they said they only help those on assistance.

I'm going into the navy as a utilitiesman which includes plumbing and hvac construction work. My question is, if I choose to do my time and get out will my experience transfer to where I can go take a journeymans test in order to get my plumbing licence. This requires around 4 years of experience working under a master plumber. Will my military time be considered the equivalent?

It is necessary to have a Master's degree to be a practicing Speech Language Pathologist, although, the median salary is nearly $40,000, that's about the same as plumber or a bailiff. I understand it should be about passion over salary but in my opinion, SLP's are hugely underpaid.

My parents invested in a motel, assigned his "friend" to supervise the construction coz they live away. when I came to check on progress,(the building process spanned for 2-3 years, but is half way done now) I found the construction quality is not acceptable. 1) The friend gave the bathroom tiling job to a plumber who's seventish yrs old, did a poor job on aligning the tiles, some tiles' not even flat that I got worried about customer's safety. 2) the friend bought whole sets of super-ugly cheap toilets(unused), and told me can't return it because we've bought it for over 1or2 yrs, and it was on a special 1/2price. 3)about sound proof, tested onsite myself with normal volume radio, eventhough it's unfurnished empty room with carpet only, I can still hear radio from next room. The friend said it should be alright when all furnished, I asked for optional solutions he said nothing can be done. what can I do to correct this mess with limited budget?I have more problems than these here...
