Director Of Development Job Questions & Answers

I've been fundraising for and/or running several political campaigns (Campaign Manager) and would like to get a position as a Director of Development or Executive Director for a non-profit. I'm having a hard time making the change even though I have a proven track record as a good fundraiser. I lost my last election ( it was a bitter federal one). Any hints on making the switch? I'm a new father and want a job that the security is based on my performance, not what a candidate said on the campain trail.

What are some interesting jobs in the business management field? Salary not a big concern Jobs in like traveling, entertainment, exciting aspects, etc. I know there is more out there then just a being a manager at Walmart, McDonald, etc. I have my sights to eventually run my own business back in my hometown. So this does not concern any future of mine.

I have a full-time job and two free-lance jobs as follows: 1) Job 1-- full-time job 2) Job 2-- freelancer; previously I worked in their office for 2 years (part-time then full-time) 3) Job 3- solely freelance How should I list it on my resume? Should I put consultant? How do I address Job 2 where I was both an in-office worker and a freelance worker? For Job 2, should I list my title as 2003- current (includes both freelance and in-office)? Or, TITLE 2003-2005; Freelance TITLE 2005- Present?

I have a background in IT development and project management and am looking to make a career change. I'm interested in doing something related to Education, but do not necessarily want to teach. What other options are out there? I am willing to get additional training, so please don't assume I need (or want) to use any of my technical skills.

Yesterday i was called into my bosses office and was told my job was being redefined. i was told instead of being a director of public relations, which includes planning a marketing campaign, designing ads, scheduling special events, etc. the company i work for wants a person to a be an external community relations/marketing director who attends meetings, is a member of various service clubs and who promotes the image of the organization at all public events. In addition, this new position would basically listen for complaints in the public and bring them back to the company to be reported, so they could be corrected. i was offered the chance to apply for this new position but if i didn't get it, i would be out of a job? the company indicated that the work i have previously done, marketing design, ad creation, web development, etc. would be jobbed out. any thoughts, ideas, plans, inspiration or wisdom. i'm 38 and a bit scared. help.
