...course offered at Colleges? I've seen entry level Continuing education courses offered by Technical Colleges in NYC that teach installation, repair & setup for Alarm systems, CCTV systems, and Security systems but wonder if they could actually lead to a job after completion. Do companies actually hire entry level positions? Any one have any experience with this as I'm considering a mid-life career change.

I am in a deep delimma.. I am completely STUCK in my resume. I lost my job last month. I have no money , and I am waiting for my unemployment check to come in for over a month. I have barely any money in my bank. I need to resolve this as quickly as possible so I can finish up my resume and start applying for some jobs I have space in my resume for one more job description . And I have 2 choices By the way I am looking for an entry level / 1 year experience position..( electrical/eletronics engineer) 2 choices I have are 1 ) Computer support technician - ( More like Customer support representative job- part time 6 months ) - I just wrote Computer support technician to make it sound more "technical" . I don't think it's such a big problem 2) Electronics technician ( 2 years ) 1998 - 2000. in India. I came to United states around 2000. The problem with this job is that it was looong time ago . and my MAIN JOB EXPERIENCE was at this company for a year , till I was laid off last month. so I am worried if I put a job experience that's almost 10 years apart from the most current job I had . It would create a problem. But on the other hand , this work I did 10 years ago is more relevant to the kind of job I am applying for, in contrast to the "customer support position job" I did, which was very recent ( 2-3 years ago ) I am stuck with this situation , please help. Thank you .

I’m a Business Administration fresh grad. I just learned that the hotel I would like to work for is hiring an account executive. It is my great desire to be part in a prestigious hotel (which Marriott International Hotel) and would be proud to work there. But I’m not sure what an account executive really do. Should i apply for an account executive position for this 4 star hotel. What should i possess in order to qualify and be successful in it? I heard you have to be good in selling…if I have not much experience in selling, will I be successful doing that job? Another job option is that I was referred by a friend of mine,a team lead to work as a Technical Support representative in a distinguished call center. The salary is good with a competitive benefit package. He referred me coz he knows i'm qualified to do the job esp.i have experience working in an internet cafe now as an attendant for a year now which is owned by my aunt. But i'm kinda worried that i might not last there coz it would be very stressful knowing that call centers have high burnout rate esp. with the shifting schedules. But my friend encouraged me that i can do it. I’m confused coz i really needed to have a better job with better salary as soon as possible and move out from my cashiering job in which i'm currently underemployed. I would greatly appreciate all your advice.Tnx

I graduated at the end of 2007 with a BS in Economics. Since then I had a few temp jobs as a customer service representative, which is my current career for a private company. I have had this job for about 20 months and it is getting old. I make about 40K with good benefits and I live in Maryland. I feel like I should be making more money doing something more related to my degree. The reason I have my job now is because it was the best that I could find. What kind of jobs could I potentially go for with a degree in economics and job experience in customer service/technical support? Thanks.
