I wish to work with renewable energy; for that I searched which career to study in the university. I found that many universities stated that a mayor in renewable energy is not the right choice but instead as a minor with either Electrical or Mechanical engineering. I have read how each mayor does but I can't still decide. Could someone help me please. P.S. I wish to work on big projects for the generation on energy like the "Andasol Solar Power Station"

It's pretty well known that the world's oil supply is depleting. Why are we spending time invading Iraq and planning to invade other countries to get oil when we could be spending time finding another solution? (don't tell me we aren't there for the oil at all, I won't have it!) Sure there is enough for our lifetime, but is the struggle really worth it? There are other options, many vehicles use them everyday. So why aren't we spending our $$, time and resources on making our own solution, instead of expecting the rest of the world to give us what's theirs or destroying the arctic refuge? I see people saying it's cost effective...how many other pointless things do we put our hard earned money towards that aren't cost effective? Fighting a sensless war isn't cost effective. If oil wasn't an issue, then there would be nothing to fight for and nothing to worry about. Gas prices wouldn't be rising. Is it the American way not to worry about something until it's too late? And no I don't want to walk or ride my bike. That's why I am concerned!!! The way gas prices are rising, that's what I will be doing before too long!

Thank you for the design answer. Now, who (what occupation) builds them? Then, what's the process after that - I assume testing, etc. (I'm writing a story for a child who wants to be an aeronautical engineer.)

Hi guys and girls, I'm currently a year 2 mechanical engineering student. I realize that my future job requires me to work mainly on mechanical systems and engines. Personally, I have passion in contributing to the environment, as I am really concerned with our current earth condition now.. it's deteriorating day by day, and let's face it.. Engines and mechanical systems / power plants designed by Mechanical Engineers actually contribute to that. But without these systems and engines, our lives will be difficult. So my question is : as a mechanical engineer, is it possible for me to contribute to the environment? I am not sure about my ideas, but what I am thinking is actually to help design engines that are environmental friendly (emits less carbon). Is it possible? Is there anything else for mechanical engineers to do in order to play a part in saving the environment? (not only by helping to plant trees, of course..) Any idea which companies are actually doing this kind of environment protecting job? I just feel the urge to help saving the environment now before it's too late. Thanks alot. Have a nice day ahead!

This year I am graduating and I have to decide for universities studies. I am really confused about my choice though. I really like chemistry and science in general so I am thinking Chemistry or Chemical Engineering as an opportunity. But I am not sure about what those two can offer as a job. I know that with studies in chemistry you can be a teacher, or to work in wineries or to check products. As for the second one I know that a chemical engineer works in oil companies (which is not very popular in my country). So can anyone give me some extra information ?

What I would do: 1. Legalize Gay Marriage (because all marriages cost lots of money wether they be gay or straight) 2. Legalize Marijuana for Sale, keep it regulated (ask for I.D., etc.) 3. Legalize Prostitution, moderate it (like the porn industry) to keep it safe and put much less money in criminals since a majority of all prostitution is to fund criminal and gang-related activities 4. Get all soldiers back to the U.S., get them working and spending (let the "terrorists" do as they like in their own country) 5. Fix energy problem (stop off-shore drilling; build more solar panels, windmills, etc.) 6. Increase taxes of upper-middle class and above, decrease taxes of lower-middle class and below 7. Stop printing as much money 8. Stop printing "In God We Trust" on the dollar 9. Tax all places of religious worship 10. Remove all bans of abortion and stem-cell research 11. Put less funding in space projects 12. Not try to bail out miserably failing companies. With more money in circulation, the national debt will be gone very soon. Keep in mind, I'm far from an expert when it comes to economics, but what I do know about economics is that by doing these things the debt will decrease greatly. Your ideas? Printing "In God We Trust" is a violation of the seperation of church and state, and also uses ink. Ink costs money and printing "In God We Trust" uses a fraction of a pennies worth of ink. Over time that builds up and with as much money as we're printing currently, that only adds to the national defecit. Getting rid of it would be a very intelligent idea, no?
